Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Looking Out The Window by Francis Coates Jones was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,750.00 (€ 4,359.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Coates Jones achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fishing Along The River Bank in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 181,000.00 (€ 116,323.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Looking Out The Window von Francis Coates Jones im April 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.750,00 (€ 4.359,80) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Coates Jones erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fishing Along The River Bank im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 181.000,00 (€ 116.323,91).
