In January 2008 Christies in London held the auction Nineteenth Century European Art, which included the work Gone but not forgotten by Francis Coates Jones. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 19,700.00 (€ 26,408.70), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Francis Coates Jones have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fishing Along The River Bank in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 181,000.00 (€ 116,323.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 31 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Nineteenth Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gone but not forgotten von Francis Coates Jones zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 19.700,00 (€ 26.408,70) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Coates Jones auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fishing Along The River Bank im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 181.000,00 (€ 116.323,91).
