Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2017 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Three Gaff Rigged Sloops in a Bay by Francis Augustus Silva. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 29,416.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Augustus Silva achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunrise At Tappan Zee in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,658,500.00 (€ 1,909,979.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Gaff Rigged Sloops in a Bay von Francis Augustus Silva zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 29.416,71) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Augustus Silva erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunrise At Tappan Zee im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.658.500,00 (€ 1.909.979,17).
