Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Highlands on the Hudson, Looking South from Newburgh, New York by Francis Augustus Silva was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 46,966.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Augustus Silva achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunrise At Tappan Zee in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,658,500.00 (€ 1,909,979.17).
