Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century American Art, which included the work Fishing Boats on Jamaica Bay by Francis Augustus Silva. The price achieved of USD 52,920.00 (€ 48,738.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Augustus Silva achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunrise At Tappan Zee in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,658,500.00 (€ 1,909,979.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishing Boats on Jamaica Bay von Francis Augustus Silva zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 52.920,00 (€ 48.738,26) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Augustus Silva erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunrise At Tappan Zee im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.658.500,00 (€ 1.909.979,17).
