Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Francis Augustus Silva could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in May last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The American Scene including Important Photographs from the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation auction, the work Crow's Nest on Hudson changed hands for USD 56,700.00 (€ 52,837.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Augustus Silva achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunrise At Tappan Zee in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,658,500.00 (€ 1,909,979.17).
