Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Francis Alÿs achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October last year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Untitled (two men with stick) sold for GBP 138,600.00 (€ 161,467.47) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francis Alÿs - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Study For The Last Clown, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 288,000.00 (€ 427,377.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Francis Alÿs erzielte im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Untitled (two men with stick) für GBP 138.600,00 (€ 161.467,47) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Francis Alÿs mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Study For The Last Clown beobachtet, die im Juni 2007 für GBP 288.000,00 (€ 427.377,51) versteigert wurde.
