Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fanciullo con arpione by Francesco Messina was auctioned at Christies in Milan in May 2003. It changed hands for a price of EUR 4,960.00 achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of EUR 3,500.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Francesco Messina - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Busto di donna, which sold at auction in May 2007 for EUR 18,000.00.

Die Arbeit Fanciullo con arpione von Francesco Messina kam im Mai 2003 bei Christies in Mailand zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von EUR 4.960,00 den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 3.500,00 – 5.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Francesco Messina mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Busto di donna beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für EUR 18.000,00 versteigert wurde.
