Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Autoritratto by Francesco Messina was auctioned at Christies in Milan in November 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of ITL 1,800,000.00 – 2,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of ITL 1,880,000.00 (€ 1,729.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francesco Messina achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Busto di donna in May 2007 with an auction result of EUR 18,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Autoritratto von Francesco Messina kam im November 2000 bei Christies in Mailand zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von ITL 1.800.000,00 – 2.200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von ITL 1.880.000,00 (€ 1.729,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francesco Messina erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Busto di donna im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 18.000,00.
