This artwork by Fortunino Matania achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2014. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work The battle of the tanks: The first onslaught of the German attack (illustrated left); and The brilliant rescue of the B.E.F.: The scene on the beaches of Dunkerque (illustrated right) sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,713.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Fortunino Matania have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Complete Set of Illustrations For The Tinker'S Wig in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,760.00 (€ 17,429.06).

In der Auktion Christie's Interiors wurde die Arbeit The battle of the tanks: The first onslaught of the German attack (illustrated left); and The brilliant rescue of the B.E.F.: The scene on the beaches of Dunkerque (illustrated right) für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.713,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fortunino Matania auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Complete Set of Illustrations For The Tinker'S Wig im Juni 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.760,00 (€ 17.429,06).
