This artwork by Fortunino Matania achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2014. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Soldiers in woodland near Ypres marching along 'Regent Street', 1915 sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,713.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Fortunino Matania have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Complete Set of Illustrations For The Tinker'S Wig in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,760.00 (€ 17,429.06).
