Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Florent Willems achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in April 2008. In the 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale auction, the work The Reader sold for USD 17,500.00 (€ 11,241.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Florent Willems - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le départ pour la chasse au faucon, which sold at auction in January 2008 for GBP 29,300.00 (€ 39,277.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Florent Willems erzielte im April 2008 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale wurde die Arbeit The Reader für USD 17.500,00 (€ 11.241,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Florent Willems mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Le départ pour la chasse au faucon beobachtet, die im Januar 2008 für GBP 29.300,00 (€ 39.277,91) versteigert wurde.
