Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work The Waiting Wall by Fletcher Martin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,308.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fletcher Martin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to Marciano in March 2007 with an auction result of USD 48,000.00 (€ 35,890.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Waiting Wall von Fletcher Martin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.308,07) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Fletcher Martin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Homage to Marciano im März 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 48.000,00 (€ 35.890,53).
