The work Harpers Ferry by Ferdinand Richardt was sold in the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Christies in New York in September 2011. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 17,659.31), 32% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ferdinand Richardt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of Niagara Falls in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 288,000.00 (€ 214,078.64).

Die Arbeit Harpers Ferry von Ferdinand Richardt wurde im September 2011 in der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 23.750,00 (€ 17.659,31) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ferdinand Richardt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View of Niagara Falls im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 288.000,00 (€ 214.078,64).
