FENG KANGHOU (1901-1983) Calligraphy in Oracle Bone Script Hanging scroll, ink on paper 109 x 31.2 cm. (42 7 ⁄ 8 x 12 1 ⁄ 4 in.) Inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Dated spring, twenty-second year (of the Republic, 1933) Dedicated to Culture Ink Factory NOTE: Culture Ink Factory, founded in 1933, originated on Belcher’s Street in the Western District of Hong Kong. The company produced printing inks and varnish for ink mixing, primarily sold across Hong Kong, Macao, and Guangzhou. At the time, when cultural industries in China were on the rise, the Culture Ink Factory grew to become a prominent Chinese capital company of 20th century Hong Kong.
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Calligraphy in Oracle Bone Script by Feng Kanghou was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in September last year. The price achieved of HKD 13,860.00 (€ 1,803.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Feng Kanghou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three White Furong Seals in November 2016 with an auction result of HKD 885,000.00 (€ 107,843.17).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Calligraphy in Oracle Bone Script von Feng Kanghou kam im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 13.860,00 (€ 1.803,51) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 10.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Feng Kanghou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Three White Furong Seals im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 885.000,00 (€ 107.843,17).
