Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Back to Mother by Fan Ho was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 40,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 32,760.00 (€ 4,087.77). Admittedly, works by Fan Ho have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Approaching Shadow, 1954 in April 2018 with an auction result of USD 47,500.00 (€ 39,340.73).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Back to Mother von Fan Ho im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 40.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 32.760,00 (€ 4.087,77) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fan Ho auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Approaching Shadow, 1954 im April 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.500,00 (€ 39.340,73).
