two-plate panorama, salt prints, numbered ‘158’ in the negative, mounted, with a hand-ruled decorative ink border on the mount, 1863; accompanied by an early wood frame with the title carved into the top and bottom face, a paper label inscribed ‘Wilder Bancroft’ in ink affixed to the reverse; with the original 1874 Boston Daily Advertiser newspaper frame backing

Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work ‘Franchard, Foret De Fontainebleau’ by Eugène Cuvelier for USD 27,500.00 (€ 24,637.16). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Eugène Cuvelier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Village De Rivière' in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 288,000.00 (€ 210,834.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2015 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit ‘Franchard, Foret De Fontainebleau’ von Eugène Cuvelier für USD 27.500,00 (€ 24.637,16) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eugène Cuvelier auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Village De Rivière' im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 288.000,00 (€ 210.834,55).
