Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work 'Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria' by Ernest Crofts was sold in the British and European Art auction at Bonhams in London in March last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,500.00 (€ 25,490.67), 19% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest Crofts - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Whitehall: January 30th, 1649, which sold at auction in February 2003 for GBP 47,800.00 (€ 69,786.49).

Die Arbeit 'Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria' von Ernest Crofts wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 21.500,00 (€ 25.490,67) und damit 19% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ernest Crofts mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Whitehall: January 30th, 1649 beobachtet, die im Februar 2003 für GBP 47.800,00 (€ 69.786,49) versteigert wurde.
