The work Peony by Empress Dowager Cixi was sold in the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017. The auction ended at the price of HKD 300,000.00 (€ 32,299.55), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 250,000.00 – 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Empress Dowager Cixi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lotus, Root and Seed in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 312,380.66).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Peony von Empress Dowager Cixi wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 300.000,00 (€ 32.299,55) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 250.000,00 – 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Empress Dowager Cixi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lotus, Root and Seed im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 312.380,66).
