The work Peony Blossoms by Empress Dowager Cixi was sold in the Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II auction at POLY in October 2018. It achieved a price of HKD 507,400.00 (€ 57,133.99), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 27%. Admittedly, works by Empress Dowager Cixi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lotus, Root and Seed in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 312,380.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Peony Blossoms von Empress Dowager Cixi wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy II bei POLY versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 507.400,00 (€ 57.133,99) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 27%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Empress Dowager Cixi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lotus, Root and Seed im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 312.380,66).
