The work Calligraphy in Standard Script by Empress Dowager Cixi was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2017. It achieved a price of HKD 400,000.00 (€ 43,066.06), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Admittedly, works by Empress Dowager Cixi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lotus, Root and Seed in May 2013 with an auction result of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 312,380.66).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Calligraphy in Standard Script von Empress Dowager Cixi kam im November 2017 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 400.000,00 (€ 43.066,06) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Empress Dowager Cixi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lotus, Root and Seed im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 312.380,66).
