This artwork by Emperor Xuantong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2016. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Correspondence sold for HKD 200,000.00 (€ 24,371.34) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 100,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Emperor Xuantong; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Five-Character Poem in Running Script sold at auction in November 2019 with the realized price of HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,995.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Emperor Xuantong erzielte im November 2016 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Correspondence für HKD 200.000,00 (€ 24.371,34) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 100.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Emperor Xuantong; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Five-Character Poem in Running Script im November 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 250.000,00 (€ 28.995,37).
