The work Chrysanthemums by Emperor Xuantong was sold in the IMPORTANT CHINESE ART auction at Christies in Hong Kong in October 2001. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 94,000.00 (€ 13,400.20), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Emperor Xuantong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Five-Character Poem in Running Script, which sold at auction in November 2019 for HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,995.37).
