Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Poggibonsi, Italy by Emmet Gowin was sold in the Innovators of Photography: A Private East Coast Collection auction at Phillips in New York in October 2015. The price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,264.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emmet Gowin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concerning America and Alfred Stieglitz, and Myself. Richmond, Virginia: by the photographer, 1965. in May 2010 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 46,455.48).
