Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Untitled (1992) by Emily Kame Kngwarreye for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 18,380.09). This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emily Kame Kngwarreye achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer Celebration in December 2019 with an auction result of USD 596,000.00 (€ 530,863.10).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Untitled (1992) von Emily Kame Kngwarreye für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 18.380,09) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Emily Kame Kngwarreye erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer Celebration im Dezember 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 596.000,00 (€ 530.863,10).
