Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Dark Topography by Elwyn Augustus Lynn. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 5,377.50 (€ 3,260.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elwyn Augustus Lynn - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thirty-Five, which sold at auction in August 2001 for AUD 12,925.00 (€ 7,503.33).
