Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mare and Colt, 1927 by William Elling Gollings was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,792.00 (€ 1,642.83). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Elling Gollings achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Buying Buckskins in February 2019 with an auction result of USD 220,000.00 (€ 193,338.61).
