Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Sleeping Man by Ellen Altfest was auctioned at Sothebys in London in November 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 12,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 47,880.00 (€ 56,215.63). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ellen Altfest; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Tree sold at auction in November 2012 with the realized price of USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,875.48).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Sleeping Man von Ellen Altfest im November 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 12.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 47.880,00 (€ 56.215,63) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Ellen Altfest; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Tree im November 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 61.875,48).
