Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2010 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work The Maries at the Sepulchre; and The Passing of Arthur by Elizabeth Siddal. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,899.99) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elizabeth Siddal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Study for The Ladies' Lament from the ballad of 'Sir Patrick Spens'; and two studies for La Belle Dame sans merci (illustrated), which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,218.36).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Maries at the Sepulchre; and The Passing of Arthur von Elizabeth Siddal zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.899,99) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Elizabeth Siddal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Study for The Ladies' Lament from the ballad of 'Sir Patrick Spens'; and two studies for La Belle Dame sans merci (illustrated) beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.218,36) versteigert wurde.
