It achieved a price of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,803.05), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elizabeth Siddal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Study for The Ladies' Lament from the ballad of 'Sir Patrick Spens'; and two studies for La Belle Dame sans merci (illustrated), which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,640.00 (€ 9,218.36).

Die Arbeit Study of a woman and a man seated on the ground, a further male figure standing behind von Elizabeth Siddal kam im Juli 2018 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 2.500,00 (€ 2.803,05) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67%. Für andere Arbeiten von Elizabeth Siddal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Study for The Ladies' Lament from the ballad of 'Sir Patrick Spens'; and two studies for La Belle Dame sans merci (illustrated) beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 5.640,00 (€ 9.218,36) versteigert wurde.
