Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Seven Pears in a Bowl by Eliot Hodgkin was worth GBP 35,280.00 (€ 40,985.32) to a buyer in June last year. This price was achieved in the auction Modern British Day Auction at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eliot Hodgkin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Violets II, which sold at auction in September 2000 for GBP 51,700.00 (€ 86,509.89).
