In December 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Funghi No. 1 by Eliot Hodgkin. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,475.00 (€ 12,818.60), 64% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Eliot Hodgkin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Violets II in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 51,700.00 (€ 86,509.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Funghi No. 1 von Eliot Hodgkin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.475,00 (€ 12.818,60) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eliot Hodgkin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Violets II im September 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 51.700,00 (€ 86.509,89).
