Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Elaine de Kooning was auctioned at Phillips in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,430.00 (€ 10,513.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elaine de Kooning achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Red Bison/Blue Horse in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 562,500.00 (€ 479,008.77).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Elaine de Kooning im März diesen Jahres bei Phillips versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.430,00 (€ 10.513,25) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Elaine de Kooning erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Red Bison/Blue Horse im März 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 562.500,00 (€ 479.008,77).
