Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Christies in New York held the auction A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II, which included the work Sand Wall (Cave #54) by Elaine de Kooning. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 441,000.00 (€ 413,929.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Elaine de Kooning have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2021 the work Red Bison/Blue Horse was auctioned for USD 562,500.00 (€ 479,008.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sand Wall (Cave #54) von Elaine de Kooning zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 441.000,00 (€ 413.929,04) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Elaine de Kooning konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im März 2021 die Arbeit Red Bison/Blue Horse für USD 562.500,00 (€ 479.008,77) versteigert.
