Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Twilight in Juarez No. I by Elaine de Kooning was sold in the 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 1,200,000.00 – 2,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 1,386,000.00 (€ 162,640.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elaine de Kooning - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Bison/Blue Horse, which sold at auction in March 2021 for USD 562,500.00 (€ 479,008.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Twilight in Juarez No. I von Elaine de Kooning wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 1.200.000,00 – 2.200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 1.386.000,00 (€ 162.640,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Elaine de Kooning mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Red Bison/Blue Horse beobachtet, die im März 2021 für USD 562.500,00 (€ 479.008,77) versteigert wurde.
