In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Still Life With Doves, Tostock; And A Flower And Looking Glass, Drinkstone by Eileen Bell. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,594.42), 54% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Eileen Bell; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot House Boats At Low Tide sold at auction in May 2005 with the realized price of GBP 2,040.00 (€ 3,011.68).
