Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Grand Plans by Edwin Howland Blashfield was auctioned at Sothebys in Olympia in July 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,500.00 – 4,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,990.38). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edwin Howland Blashfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trumpets of Missouri in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 149,000.00 (€ 109,237.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Grand Plans von Edwin Howland Blashfield im Juli 2007 bei Sothebys in Olympia versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.500,00 – 4.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.990,38) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edwin Howland Blashfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trumpets of Missouri im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 149.000,00 (€ 109.237,54).
