Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Dutch hoys and other shipping in choppy waters off Amsterdam by Edward William Cooke. The price achieved of GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,485.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward William Cooke achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bella Venezia in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 209,600.00 (€ 311,262.56).
