Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art, which included the work Design for Mural Painting for a Bar in a Seaside Pavilion, Based on Four Colours Stipulated by the Architect by Edward Wadsworth. The price achieved of GBP 35,280.00 (€ 41,422.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Edward Wadsworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Imaginary Harbour I in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 197,000.00 (€ 232,440.63).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Design for Mural Painting for a Bar in a Seaside Pavilion, Based on Four Colours Stipulated by the Architect von Edward Wadsworth zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 35.280,00 (€ 41.422,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Wadsworth auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Imaginary Harbour I im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 197.000,00 (€ 232.440,63).
