Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2008 Christies in London held the auction Children's & Illustrated Books & Original Illustrations, which included the work The Railway Station: a design for J.Lyons & Co. by Edward Ardizzone. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,676.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Ardizzone - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Saloon Bar at The Shirland, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,445.04).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Children's & Illustrated Books & Original Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Railway Station: a design for J.Lyons & Co. von Edward Ardizzone zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.676,02) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Ardizzone mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Saloon Bar at The Shirland beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 6.572,50 (€ 9.445,04) versteigert wurde.
