Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2018 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included this untitled work by Edward Henry Potthast. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,175.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Henry Potthast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Water's Fine in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,384,000.00 (€ 1,028,766.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Edward Henry Potthast zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.175,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Henry Potthast erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Water's Fine im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.384.000,00 (€ 1.028.766,82).
