Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Children on the Beach by Edward Henry Potthast was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 60,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 212,500.00 (€ 187,671.11). Admittedly, works by Edward Henry Potthast have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Water's Fine in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,384,000.00 (€ 1,028,766.82).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Children on the Beach von Edward Henry Potthast im November 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 60.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 212.500,00 (€ 187.671,11) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Henry Potthast auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Water's Fine im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.384.000,00 (€ 1.028.766,82).
