In January 2009 Christies in New York held the auction The Scholars Eye: Property from the Julius Held Collection Part II, which included the work Two decorative neoclassical designs with Muses by Edward Francis Burney. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,375.00 (€ 1,073.88), 72% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Francis Burney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Marriage of Peleus And Thetis On Mount Pelion in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,368.88).
