This artwork by Edward Francis Burney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2008. In the Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes auction, the work Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), en grisaille in major-general uniform, gold braid embellishing the collar and his left shoulder sold for GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,595.02) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Edward Francis Burney have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Marriage of Peleus And Thetis On Mount Pelion in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,368.88).

In der Auktion Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes wurde die Arbeit Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), en grisaille in major-general uniform, gold braid embellishing the collar and his left shoulder für GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.595,02) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Francis Burney auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Marriage of Peleus And Thetis On Mount Pelion im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.400,00 (€ 21.368,88).
