It achieved a price of GBP 5,640.00 (€ 8,940.09), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Clifford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Forge of Cupid, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 31,250.00 (€ 35,038.12).

Die Arbeit Tito Melema von Edward Clifford wurde im Juni 2000 in der Auktion British Art on Paper bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 5.640,00 (€ 8.940,09) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Clifford mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Forge of Cupid beobachtet, die im Juli 2018 für GBP 31.250,00 (€ 35.038,12) versteigert wurde.
