The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,292.80), 68% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edward Clifford have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Forge of Cupid in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 35,038.12).

Die Arbeit Psalm Lxix von Edward Clifford wurde im Juni 2006 in der Auktion British Art on Paper Including 'The Blue Rigi' by J.M.W. Turner, R.A. bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 7.292,80) und damit 68% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edward Clifford auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Forge of Cupid im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 31.250,00 (€ 35.038,12).
