In November 2009 Christies in London held the auction Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures including Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work A torrent from the hills, with fishermen beyond by Edmund Morison Wimperis. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 937.50 (€ 1,025.97), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Edmund Morison Wimperis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Across the Moor in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,587.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures including Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A torrent from the hills, with fishermen beyond von Edmund Morison Wimperis zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 937,50 (€ 1.025,97) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edmund Morison Wimperis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Across the Moor im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.525,00 (€ 5.587,56).
