Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Sussex Common by Edmund Morison Wimperis was sold in the British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations auction at Christies in London in June 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 646.25 (€ 999.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edmund Morison Wimperis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Across the Moor in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 3,525.00 (€ 5,587.56).
