Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work I am a kind of artisan by Edmund de Waal was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,879.98). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund de Waal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A short history of the shadow in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 137,741.48).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit I am a kind of artisan von Edmund de Waal im Juli 2020 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.879,98) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund de Waal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A short history of the shadow im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 118.750,00 (€ 137.741,48).
