Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Along The Rocky Coast by Edmund Darch Lewis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,000.00 (€ 4,486.32). Admittedly, works by Edmund Darch Lewis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Newport Harbor, Twilight in September 2009 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Along The Rocky Coast von Edmund Darch Lewis im März 2007 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.000,00 (€ 4.486,32) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edmund Darch Lewis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Newport Harbor, Twilight im September 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35).
